Monster Suncatcher Craft

Oh how I love these! Okay well, I love suncatcher tissue paper crafts in general because they make our windows look fabulous. But this is one perfect for Halloween, and what’s cuter than kid-made Halloween decorations? This activity is perfect for big kids and even the little ones, they’re one of my 3 year old and 1 year old’s favorite crafts to do together.

Check out the easy tutorial below to get started!

Materials Needed:

  • Contact Paper
  • Card Stock Paper
  • Tape
  • Tissue Paper
  • Googly Eyes
  • Scissors

Directions:

First you’ll want to get the supplies ready for some monster making, take your tissue paper and cut it into small squares. Then take different colored cardstock and cut out different shapes that you’ll be using for the monster bodies. And because this is a monster craft the kids can be super creative so use any color or shape you can think of!

Next tape down the corners of your contact paper to a table with sticky side facing up, then place your monster shape for the body onto the sticky side of your contact paper. Then grab your tissue paper and start decorating, you could even add in some glitter in this step. Once you child’s finished filling in the bodies of their monsters you’ll take another piece of contact paper and place it directly over the monster to seal it. Then cut out your monster shape, when your done though you may need to tape some of the edges to keep it more secure. My son stuffed his monster with a ton of tissue paper so it needed a little extra tape around the edges.

Finally I took black and white construction paper and cut out different shapes for the mouth. Take a glue stick and then decorate your monsters with a mouth and some googly eyes. You can tape them to your window for an awesome Halloween decoration!!
