Creamy Crock Pot Hot Chocolate

October 18, 2016 by Jackie Cravener

Every year for Halloween, we’re met with rainy and cold nights living here in the northeast. It’s usually cold enough for the parents to be miserable but not cold enough for them to actually cancel trick or treat night. Although Halloween is a kid-focused holiday, we can’t forget about the parents who walk miles and miles every Halloween night to help their kids go trick-or-treating.

Trick or treat night is always pretty hectic in our house because it’s right after work and school. So that means mom is rushing around all day to get things done from picking everyone up from school, getting costumes ready, dinner in the oven, kids fed, dressed, and out the door. We moms do it all without complaining. So, while we handed out candy this year we also treated the parents to a little warming station where we had a crock pot full of piping hot chocolate, marshmallows, and Dixie® To Go Cups. Everyone got to enjoy a hot drink confidently the rest of the night with Dixie® To Go Cups insulated layer, so you don’t have to worry about burning your hands and leak-resistant lid, giving you the best on-the-go experience.

And with Dixie® To Go Cups there are no dirty mugs for mom to clean when she gets home, you can just toss it in the trash when you’re done! Giving you one less thing to worry about so you can crush it trick or treat night and of course, try to keep up with your kids!

This year, treat those parents to a cup of hot chocolate.  They’ll appreciate it!

Easy Creamy Crock Pot Hot Chocolate Recipe

Ingredients I used to make our slow cooker hot chocolate:

  • 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 14 ounce can sweetened condensed milk
  • 6 cups milk
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 cups of chocolate chips
  • Dixie® To Go Cups

Instructions:

Pour all the ingredients into a crockpot and whisk together until it’s well combined. Cover and cook on low for 2 hours, stirring occasionally, until mixture is hot and chocolate chips are melted. Whisk well before serving and top with marshmallows!

After your hot chocolate’s done, grab your marshmallows and Dixie® To Go Cups and start preparing your drinks for your trick or treaters. Trick or Treat night is always fast paced and kids are eager to get onto the next house so pour your hot chocolate into your cups and snap on your lids. They’re ready to go onto the next house and crush it on trick or treat night!

Even if your family plans on not handing out candy and you’re going out trick or treating instead, make this recipe ahead of time, so you can enjoy a sweet warm treat in your Dixie® To Go Cups for the night ahead. No effort, no clean up, no worries. More time to focus on things that matter.
