DIY Neon Chalk Pinwheels

July 16, 2015 by Jackie Cravener

I love getting new craft supplies, I’m like a kid at Christmas! So I couldn’t wait to get started on some new crafts with the Fun Chalk markers we received this week. The kids love using these non-toxic and odor free markers to decorate our windows (don’t worry they wipe right off)! And the bright and bold colors were perfect for our pinwheel craft that I’m sharing with you today.

Supplies:

  • Fun Chalk Markers
  • Black Cardstock
  • Glue Gun
  • Paper Straws
  • Buttons
  • Pipe Cleaners
  • Scissors

Directions:

First make sure that your card stock paper is cut into a square, so that the sides are even. Then have the kids design some fun artwork with your Fun Chalk markers on the front and back of the paper.

Cut a slit on every corner of the square making sure not to go down the whole way. Then punch a hole in every other corner like the image below and in the very center of the paper.

An adult will have to use a hot glue gun for this step and fold the corners with the holes into the middle of the paper meeting the center circle that you punched out.

Once the glue has dried you can take a large button and thread a pipe cleaner through it then bring it through the hole of the pinwheel. Twist the ends around a straw and your finished! You can add a dab of glue to the pipe cleaner on the straw to secure it.
