Easy Recipe for Homemade Chocolate Playdough

January 15, 2022 by Jackie Cravener

The kids will have so much fun with this EASY Recipe for Homemade Chocolate Playdough. It has the best texture and smells like chocolate! This also makes a great fine motor skills activity with molding the playdough and adding on the sprinkles and candies to their chocolates.

The Best Chocolate Playdough Recipe For Kids

Supplies:

1 cup flour
1/3 cup salt
2 teaspoons cream of tarter
1 cup water
1 tbsp vegetable oil
3 tbsp cocoa powder
Valentine’s Day Sprinkles or Candies

Directions:

Step 1: In a bowl, mix your flour, salt and of cream of tartar until mixed well.

Step 2: Next, add the water, vegetable oil and mixture from step 1 into the sauce pan on low-medium heat.  Mix well.

Step 3: Divide into two bathes. One half will be your white chocolate and the other half will be your milk chocolate. Add 2-3 tbsp cocoa powder to the milk chocolate play dough batch and mix.

Step 4: Pour one of the play dough mixes into a saucepan that is set to low medium heat.

Step 5: Stir until the play dough forms.  Turn this batch onto a piece of wax paper to cool.

Step 6: Add the other play dough mix into the saucepan and repeat.

Step 7: Let cool.

Step 8: Once cooled, give your kids an empty chocolate box and some Valentine’s Day sprinkles or candies. Let them create their own Valentine’s Day candies!

While this recipe is made with all edible ingredients, I wouldn’t recommend eating it.
