We’ve been busy lately making salt dough ornaments for our tree, and of course with salt dough ornaments comes adorable handprint and footprint art. I already shared our Ninja Turtle and Olaf ornament, but we also finished a Minion one that the kids will love.

Here’s what you’ll need:
- 1 Cup of salt
- 2 Cups of flour
- 1 Cup of water
- Acrylic Paint
- Googly Eyes
- Mod Podge
- Ribbon
- Paint Brushes
Directions:
Follow the directions to make your salt dough here. Once you’ve made your salt dough you’ll want to flatten it out with a rolling pin. Next have your child place their hand in the dough. Take a knife and trace around the handprint while leaving an little border around it so that you have a spot for the hole to thread the ribbon through. Take a straw and poke a hole at the top of the ornament. Bake these for 2 to 3 hours at 200 F. If your ornament is thick you’ll need to turn it over while it’s cooking.
After your ornament is done cooking you’ll want to let it cool for a few hours before you start painting. After it’s cooled you’ll take your yellow and blue paint and paint the footprint in the ornament like the image below. Add in two straps for the pants with the blue paint. And you’ll take your black paint and add in the little details of the hair, mouth, and the black strap.
When your paint has dried you can seal it with modge podge. Then finally glue on your googly eye and hang it on your tree! Don’t forget to sign and date the back of your ornaments too.
