Disclosure: Thank you to Great Wolf Lodge for hosting our family. Opinions here are all our own.

So what does family vacation look like during 2020? We may still be required to social distance and wear masks but you can be rest assured that
you can still have your own peace of mind at Great Wolf Lodge. We were so thankful for Great Wolf Lodge’s Paw Pledge program, thanks to them we were able to give our kids some normalcy while still practicing social distancing and our family had a total blast! You can read more about their Paw Pledge program and commitment to your safety in our full review below.

Great Wolf Lodge Paw Pledge
The Sandusky resort officially opened back up June 26th and upon reopening they introduced their new Paw Pledge program, a company-wide initiative focused on keeping families healthy and safe while they play together at the indoor waterpark resort, and was developed based on guidance from health authorities and public officials.

Before arriving at the resort you’re required to fill out a wellness form. Which is a way for Great Wolf Lodge to make sure that their incoming guests are healthy and have not had any recent symptoms, been quarantined, or around anyone sick.
Once you get to the water park you’ll be required to wear your mask everywhere except in your room, when you sit down to eat, and while enjoying the water park. You’ll also notice that in the lobby and dining areas they may look a little different. To ensure social distancing they’ve placed markers throughout the resort, as well as Plexiglas dividers which separated us from the desk clerk. When you check in and connect your debit card to your room, they’ll provide you with a wristband for contactless purchases throughout the resort. I personally love this because it’s one less thing for me to have to carry around in my bag in the park!

The receptionist will also inform you about their app that you can download. I LOVED having the app and all of the information right in it. You’re able to view a list of daily activities that you can sign your family up for. There’s also an option to order food to your room or for pick up in the lobby. And if you need help with anything, there’s a personal chat option to connect you to the front desk to help asap!

My kids have always loved the craft time during the day and story time/dance parties at night in the Great Wolf Lodge lobby, so I was thrilled to see that we were still able to participate in them thanks to the Paw Pledge. After signing up for an activity on the app, you’ll meet at the designated time in the lobby. They had little paw mats set out that were distanced from everyone attending and for craft time we were able to take our craft to our room to do as a family.

When it comes to pictures with your favorite Great Wolf Lodge crew, we weren’t allowed to give actual hugs so instead the kids gave air hugs and high fives instead.

Besides the activities in the lobby, we were also able to still do MagiQuest with the kids, play in the arcade, and make our own Build-A-Bear. These are all extra activities to purchase or we recommend adding on one of the passes when you book your room. These passes will save you so much money while you try out new things and explore the resort. There are three types of passes – a Pups Pass, Paw Pass, and Wolf Pass. These passes differ in price and what’s included based on the age of your child and what they’re geared to. We chose the Wolf Pass for our 8 and 6 year old, which was perfect for them.

At The Water Park
The resort is not open to 50% capacity, which became very evident within the water park. If you feel comfortable traveling now, and want to enjoy the park without a ton of people – now is the time to visit. The only difference we noticed with the water park was that the hot tub was closed, other than that we were free to enjoy the water park as we pleased and just followed social distancing when in line for the water slides.

Great Wolf Lodge’s main attraction is the indoor water park and it’s great for little ones because there’s so much space for them to run and splash around. My kids favorite spot is Fort Mckenzie which has a 1,000 gallon water bucket that dumps water every three to five minutes. They were also tall enough to ride all of the slides as long as they wore a life jacket. There are so many water slides, pools and play areas within the indoor water parks that there is something for everyone in your party no matter their age or adventure level. Life jackets are available as well as a towel service and lockers.
