My husband’s a huge basketball fan, which is why he always gets excited for March. So for the Big Tournament celebration we decided to celebrate with a few friends and host a party. I’ve included a few delicious recipes and shared how we gave them our own little basketball touch, along with free printable basketball themed snack labels that you can print out below!

Basketball Party Recipes + Free Printable Food Labels

I wanted to keep the party simple so I used all but one no bake recipe. And because I was shopping with two toddlers in tow, we hit up our local Giant Eagle to purchase all of our party supplies! I know going there I’m in and out with everything that I need.

Some items on sale are Wheat Thins, Ritz Crackers, OREO Cookies, Reese’s Mini Peanut Butter Cups, mini cans and 1/2 liter bottles of Coca Cola, Coke Zero, and Diet Coke. Which were perfect for our dips and desserts I was making.

After you’ve done the shopping for your party supplies it’s time to start prepping the food. Our menu for the party included:

– Pizza Dip paired with Ritz Crackers and Wheat Thins
– Taco Dip paired with Wheat Thins
– Reese’s OREO Trifle
– Giant Eagle Subs
– and of course our Coca-Cola products for the refreshments!

Pizza Dip

Basketball Pizza Dip

The only recipe that required any cooking was this amazing Basketball Pizza Dip. This dip is devoured at every party I take it too, so I had to include it in our snack table. We love to pair this with Ritz Crackers and Wheat Thins.

Ingredients:

  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • 4 Tablespoons black olives, sliced

Preheat oven to 350 degrees f. In a large bowl start by mixing cream cheese, garlic powder, oregano and basil. Next spread mixture on the bottom of your dish. Top with with 1/2 cup of mozzarella cheese and 1/2 cup of parmesan cheese. Spread the pizza sauce then sprinkle the remaining cheese on top. Place your olives in the pan so that they create the lines of the basketball. Bake for 15-20 minutes.

Peanut Butter Oreo Trifle Recipe

You cannot have a snack table for a sports themed party and leave out the sweets! One of our favorite and easiest no bake desserts is this Reese’s OREO Trifle.

Ingredients:

-20 OREO cookies, divided
-2 tablespoons butter, melted
-1 package (8 oz.) cream cheese, softened
-1/2 cup peanut butter
-1 1/2 cups confectioners’ sugar, divided
-1 carton (16 ounces) frozen whipped topping, thawed, divided
-15-20 miniature Reese’s, chopped
-1 cup cold milk
-1 small package (3.9 ounces) instant chocolate pudding mix

Directions:

Crush 15 cookies and toss with the melted butter. Press into your mason jar or trifle dish and set aside. In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese, peanut butter and 1 cup confectioners’ sugar until smooth. Fold in half of the whipped topping. Spread over OREO crust. Sprinkle chopped miniature Reese’s.  In another large bowl, beat the milk, pudding mix and remaining confectioners’ sugar on low speed for 2 minutes. Let stand for 2 minutes or until it’s beginning to set. Fold in remaining whipped topping. Spread pudding mix over the Reese’s. Finally crush the remaining 5 cookies and sprinkle on top. Cover and chill for 3 hours.

TACODIP2

You can stick with one dip or pick a few. We went with a simple taco dip for the other option and used the olives to create basketball lines like we did with the pizza dip above.

Subs2

Another low prep idea is picking up some of the ready made and delicious subs at Giant Eagle and cutting them into smaller portions to serve.

TRIFLE22

You can serve your trifle in a trifle bowl, but I liked the idea of a mason jar so that they could just grab and go with the spoon already attached to it.

And for the finishing touches add some fun background prop, colorful table cloth, or fun snack party labels like the ones I designed that you can print out and add to your next party!

Love so many of these ideas! I do have a couple of questions….
    1) does the pizza dip need to be served warm
    2) do you have a recipe you can share for the taco dip?

    THANK YOU!!

Great ideas. How can I incorporate a hot dog and hamburger bar?
