Diaper Rash 101 - Everything You Need To Know

Diaper rashes are one of those things that are miserable for both baby and the parents, no one want’s to see their infant in pain. There are a few things that can cause diaper rash that can include:

Infrequent Changes

Teething or Illness

New Foods/ Allergies

Baby Care Products

Teething and illnesses have been our biggest diaper rash culprits with both of my kids. I have two toddlers so I’ve learned a thing or two about diaper rashes the last few years and some of the most effective ways to deal with them. Every tooth that my daughter has had come in this year she’s gotten an awful diaper rash with every single one, making teething even more miserable with her waking up in the middle of the night crying. Luckily there are a few effective way’s that you can help fight diaper rash that I’ve used with my kids and have helped every time!

1. Leave the diaper off – If you’re indoors go on a floor that’s easy to clean otherwise if the weather is warm, spending the time outside is a great option. Fresh air helps to speed up the healing.

2. No wipes – Avoid wipes that contain any alcohol or fragrance because they can irritate the rash and can be pretty painful on your little one’s sensitive bottom. Instead pat your baby dry and make sure they are 100% dry before applying any ointments. 3. Balmex – Balmex has been proven to reduce redness in just one use. After you’ve let your child go diaper less for a little while, you can use some Balmex with ActivGuard, which will help soothe the skin with Vitamins E and B5. Balmex is the only diaper rash cream that has ActivGuard, which helps neutralize harmful irritants found in dirty or wet diapers. Fight irritation. End the red. Use Balmex instead   4. Oatmeal Soak – This tip was recommended to me by our pediatrician, so before the kids go to bed I let them soak in an oatmeal bath which helps cleanse the skin. After the bath let them air dry diaper-less, and then apply your Balmex on their dry bottom before you put their diaper back on!

IMG_4640   Following these steps and using Balmex have helped me #EndTheRed, making diaper rashes and teething less miserable for mommy and my kids! If you aren’t stocked up with this essential diaper rash cream, you can use this Balmex Diaper Rash Cream Special Offer to get $1 off of your next purchase of Balmex. Balmex Diaper Rash Cream is available at retailers such as: Wal-Mart, Walgreens, Toys-R-Us/Babies-R-Us, CVS, Kmart.

Fight irritation. End the red. Use Balmex instead
