We’ve had so much fun this week creating crafts to go along with our favorite Eric Carle book The Very Lonely Firefly. Another one that we crafted up was this easy Glow In The Dark Handprint Firefly. Check out the directions below!

Directions:
To start you’ll want to have your child paint their hand red and press a few prints onto a piece of white card stock paper. We did four different handprints for the firefly wings. Next cut out your green circle for the head and the shape for the body out of a brown piece of card stock.
To make your firefly glow, we used yellow glow in the dark paint for the bottom of the fireflys body. Because you’re painting on brown paper you’ll want to add a few layers to this. You can also take the green circle and add in the eyes and nose either with paint or cut out the shape from card stock.
Finally you’ll want to glue everything together like the image below. You can add some glue to the bottom of the handprints and glue them behind the firefly’s body. Cut a brown piece of pipe cleaner and glue it to the top of the green circle for antenna’s!
