It’s getting closer to spring which means spring cleaning and organizing. One job that I dread tackling is sorting through my kids clothes and getting them ready to either donate or set up for a yard sale.
A few friends mentioned the idea of a clothing swap party, and what better way to get rid of your kids clothes and accessories than hosting a party!
How To Host A Clothing Swap Party
If you’re like me most of my friends have kids who are around the same age, usually a few years older or younger. The first clothing swap party I attended there were 12 kids from 2 years to 5 years, so there were sizes for everyone. But because we wanted to make sure everyone got something, aside from clothes we also brought gently used toys and clothing accessories.
Choose Your Attendees:
Choose how many people you’d like to invite, while putting thought into the sizes so that no one is left out.
Set Rules For The Party:
Decide what everyone will bring and how many items. Make sure that the items are gently used so that you’re not swapping items that are stained or ripped. We also included accessories and gently used toys so that there were more options to choose from.
And one of the most important rules is to make sure that all the items being brought are freshly cleaned.
Setting Up The Party:
Because this is a swap for kids clothing, if you plan on having the kids attend the party make it a fun play date and include some fun finger foods and games to keep the kids occupied. Or make it something for just the moms and have a little girls get together!
To make things a little easier for the host, you can have everyone drop off the items a day or two in advance so that she has time to set everything up. This way you can cut down on the chaos and get straight to swapping when the guests arrive.
Swapping:
Figure out how you’d like to set up the swapping part of the session. Like taking turns drawing straws? Or how many items a person can choose at a time.
Donate Any Left Over Items!
After the swap is over take the left over items and donate them to a charity of your choice.
Hosting a clothing swap is easy and it’s a great way to save money while having a good time with friends!
