Microphone Craft For Kids

Family movie night is a weekly tradition in our house, and the kids have been counting down the days till we could get our hands on the new SING movie. SING is the perfect movie for your next family movie night because it will have you and the kids laughing and singing along with it, featuring more than 65 hit songs from all different times and genres — from Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga to Stevie Wonder.

Aside from the cute music, dancing, and funny moments I also really loved the overall message of the movie “Don’t let fear stop you from doing the thing you love”. This advice is true for all of us – no matter what age we are! The best way to overcome our fear of something is to start doing the very thing we are afraid of. With the release of Universal’s SING on Blu-ray & Digital HD today, we decided to put together a Rockstar themed family movie night in honor of my daughter’s favorite SING character the punk rocker Ash!

Check out the easy snack ideas and microphone craft that the kids can use to sing along with the movie!

For our snacks I kept is simple with Rockstar themed cupcakes and star shaped sandwiches. For the cupcakes I bought pre-made ones from the store because I cannot bake and I topped them with some foam glitter stars, so easy! And then for the sandwiches I just cut them out with a star shaped cookie cutter.

Then I set up a table for some Rockstar themed crafts including these blinged out sunglasses that the kids could decorate themselves. Simply take some plain sunglasses and adhesive gems that they can peel and stick on.

My kids absolutely LOVED this cardboard tube microphone craft and used it to sing along and dance to their favorite songs throughout the movie! For this craft I used some silver glitter Christmas ornaments that we had on hand but you could also use styrofoam balls and paint them silver or add glitter if you don’t have any ornaments on hand.

CARDBOARD TUBE MICROPHONE

Materials Needed:

• Cardboard Tube
• Cardstock
• Glue
• Adhesive Gems
• Washi Tape
• Glitter Christmas Ornament

Directions:

First you’ll want to set up your microphones for decorating by taking a low temperature glue gun and gluing the ornaments to the top of your cardboard tubes. Then set it aside for it to cool off and dry. Once they’re dried you can cut and glue your cardstock paper around your cardboard tube to completely cover it.

Your microphone is now ready to decorate! Grab some items that the kids can use to decorate with like glitter glue, washi tape, gems, and markers. Once they’re done pop in the SING movie and sing along to your favorite hit songs!
