It can be overwhelming when you’re a new mother when it comes to buying the essentials for your baby. For my first child I went a little crazy and bought pretty much everything on the top baby lists I had come across, only to find out HALF the things I never used or may have only used once. So I’m sharing what I learned after having my first child where I saved money by only buying the necessities for my second. What were some of your must have baby products that you could not live without?

1.Fisher-Price Newborn Rock ‘n Play Sleeper, Rainforest Friends – Because those first few months your newborn will be sleeping a majority of the time and a well rested baby is a well rested mom! So make sure to invest in a comfortable and top rated sleeper like this one!
2.Fisher-Price Ocean Wonders Soothe and Glow Seahorse, Blue – Besides rattles and tag blankets this toy was one of our child’s favorite and most of the time the soothing music that it played would put the baby to sleep.
3. Fisher-Price Precious Planet 2-in-1 Projection Mobile
– I made sure to keep this for the second baby. What I love about this mobile is that it has a remote for when you do not want to walk into the nursery to wake the baby, you can shut the mobile off with the remote. It also grows with the baby and can be used as a projector.
4.BABYBJORN Baby Carrier Original, Light Blue, Cotton – We used this all the time it was a lot easier than a stroller plus with the baby laying on your chest it made outings more enjoyable because the baby was happy!
5.Nosefrida The Snotsucker Nasal Aspirator – Trying to clear a congested babies nose while they are miserable and fighting you is harder than you think, especially if you have a cheap and useless aspirator. This one is top rated on amazon and has a ton of great reviews! It was one of the best ones we’ve had.
6.Totally Toddler Stain Remover -24 fl oz – This is a great stain remover that you will be needing for not just the baby but you too!
7.Carter’s Terry Footie – Orange-NB – I invested in so many newborn outfits with my first child, and he probably wore only a few of them. That first three months my kids have basically lived in sleepers and onsies!
8.VTech Communications Safe & Sounds Full Color Video and Audio Monitor– I’ve recommended this monitor to all of my friends I LOVE it! It’s in color, has night vision, lets you know the temperature and more..pretty much everything you want in a mobile!
9.Blooming Bath Baby Bath – Turquoise – So much easier to use than the big bulky plastic ones and they’re more comfortable for the baby!
10. Fisher-Price Kick and Play Piano Gym, Discover ‘N Grow
– This activity gym is great because it grows with the baby as they start to sit and roll over.
11.Summer Infant SwaddleMe Pure Love Adjustable Infant Wrap , 7-14 pounds,Owl -For that first month the baby will want to be swaddled these are the safest option to use because of the Velcro snaps. It also makes it easier to swaddle using this infant wrap rather than a regular blanket.
12.Baby Bullet Complete Baby Care System – If you’re looking to save a ton of money on baby food the baby bullet makes it easy! And by making your own baby food you know what you’re putting in it so it’s a lot healthier than most of the store alternatives.

That rock & Play sleeper is awesome. I had something similar with my boys and they loved that thing!
Nice list. I would worry that #9 would get nasty fast being exposed to water often.
Parents are lucky these days to have so many gorgeous options! that video and audio monitor should be on top of the list =)
The rock and play sleeper and the stain spray are definitely must haves if I were to ever have any more children!
Several of these products weren’t even a thought when my babies were born! So glad my kids have access to them now for my grandkids! I love that Audio -Video monitor!
I have all of these items (in some form) minus the baby bullet, which I really want to try. I used a blender to make my first son’s food. It took a lot of effort. I think I’m going to cave in and invest in the bullet 🙂
These are all so fun. I love the flower!
I only had a few of these ideas when I had Baby Mash… but they were essential! Especially that baby bouncer/swing!
That’s cool to have a stain remover that is specially geared towards toddlers and young ones. This is also the second time I have seen someone give props to that Blooming Baby Bath Flower.
We had the kick n play for our kids… they loved playing with it.. Nice must have list.
I love that baby bath. Wish I had it when my son was little. Def cute!
I’m not sure I would have survived the newborn stage for #3 and 4 had it not been for the rock and play sleeper.
I’ve never seen a mobile quite like that. It sounds neat!
Ah the rock n play is SUCH A GREAT investment. Any colic/reflux moms out there, these are made w/ your babies in mind!!..and my daughter loved that mobile for almost the entire first year. (It also has a remote to control it.. amazing)
I’m so afraid to try the nose frida!! lol, but there were times we really needed that..
