Nothing screams Valentine’s Day like doilies and the craft uses for them are endless! Today we’re sharing an easy Doily Hot Air Balloon, this can be made to use as decor or add a sweet Valentine’s note and use it as a Valentine.

This post is part of the Kids Craft Stars monthly challenge, so be sure to check out some of the other creative doily crafts at the end of this post! Or tag us on Instagram with the #kidscraftstars hashtag to share some of your favorite doily crafts.

Materials Needed:

  • Doilies
  • Glue
  • Card Stock Paper
  • String
  • Scissors

Directions:

  1. First we started with the balloon part of the craft, you’ll want to take two doilies and glue one down to a light blue piece of card stock. The blue card stock paper will be your sky for the picture. Once you’ve glued one doily down to the paper where you’d like your hot air balloon to be, you will want to take your second doily and fold it in half.

Then take the seam and glue it directly on the middle of your first doily that is glued onto your paper. This will create a 3d pop up shape for our balloon. For the next step you’ll want to pick out a color for your basket of the balloon. Take your card stock paper and cut out the shape for you basket.

Then glue it down to your paper below your finished doilies. Next take your string and cut two small pieces and then attach from your balloon to you basket. Then you can decorate the rest of the sky however you’d like. We cut out some shapes to place some clouds in the picture.

Then you’re finished! Of course you can always add a sweet Valentine’s day saying to your image if you’re gifting it to something like “You Make My Heart Soar” or “Love Is In The Air”.
