“Being a mom has made me so tired..and so happy” I’ve seen this quote a few times on Facebook and I’m sure every mother can agree with me on this one. Although my two toddlers have finally hit the stage where they are both sleeping through the night and napping once during the day. So you’d think I’d be taking advantage of that because I haven’t slept through the night since my daughter was born..but nope! I’m still up ever few hours and it’s not because of the kids this time, it’s our awful rock hard 10 year old mattress. Nothing is worse when both kids are sound asleep and you can’t for the life of you have a good nights sleep and enjoy the quiet time. And when you’re not getting enough sleep it makes you feel cranky and emotional, leaving you feeling like you’re not able to be a good mom. So I can’t tell you how excited I was when I talked my husband into finally looking into investing in a new mattress. I wanted to make sure this was worth our money and not something like our old pillow top bed that started to break down after a few years. We decided to check out our local Sleep Number store, I thought this would be the perfect place to check out first because my husband likes a firmer bed while I like a softer bed. So I wanted a bed that would accommodate both preferences.
Choose Your Bed
The staff was amazing and very engaging, but not pushy at all which made us feel very comfortable. First they had us choose our bed, our favorite was the x12 bed which features the ultimate Sleep Number experience. For instance the bed is adjustable in any way for ultimate comfort and the bed also adjusts with voice commands. My husband’s favorite feature was that massage option on the controls, which is available by voice command. I knew he was sold once he heard that. Sleep IQ Technology
Next they discussed the SleepIQ® technology, which is available with all SLEEP NUMBER® beds, SleepIQ® technology gives you the knowledge to adjust for your best sleep. The sensors in the bed work directly with Advanced DualAir™ technology and can record your heart rate, breathing rate, movement and hours that you’ve slept. And with those four readings you are given a score. My sleep number setting was 35, my heart rate was 65 and my breathing rate was 18. With those scores the SleepIQ tracks patterns in your sleep. The closer to 100 that you get, then the better sleep that your having. You can also find relative reasons for your bad or good sleeping patterns. And you can tell the Sleep IQ your diet, exercise, alcohol and caffeine intake and more. SleepIQ technology couldn’t be easier to use. nothing to wear, nothing to turn on. All you have to do is sleep. The Sleep Number consultation took about 20 minutes, as we were finishing up they covered some questions that we had about the beds. The most important was the warranty and return options, which is a 100 day trail period and a 25 year warranty.
