Softest 2 Ingredient Play Dough + Free Color Teaching Printables

Kids and Toddlers 2 Ingredient Playdough Recipe and Free Color Teaching Printable www.iheartartsncrafts.com

I know there’s a million different play dough recipes out there thanks to Pinterest, but I’m going to share our favorite. For one this recipe requires no cooking and only 2 ingredients, conditioner and corn starch. I’ve found that the cheaper the conditioner the better! It makes the softest and best smelling play dough ever.

When I do any type of learning activity with my son I try to incorporate it into an activity he already loves like our color matching Hot Wheels game. Play dough is another activity that is one of his favorites and it keeps him pretty occupied for a while. I’ve included some free printables with this post like the ones we use for our color matching games! I usually make each color of play dough and then make different shapes then he matches it to the correct color or you can even use these free printables with their Hot Wheels laying around. It’s helped my son dramatically with becoming familiar with the colors and pointing them out on his own.

2 Ingredient Play Dough

1 Cup – Cheap Conditioner

2 Cups – Corn Starch

Combine both ingredients into a large bowl and mix with your hands. Now every condition can have a different consistency so once you add the 2 cups and you mix it up for a few minutes if it’s still a little sticky just add more corn starch till you get the play dough consistency that you want. To get different colors I usually just buy a couple different cheap conditioners and every scent like lavender or blossom will be a different color so there’s no need for food coloring but if yours isn’t colored you can add a few drops before you mix the ingredients together! This play dough leaves your hands silky smooth and smells amazing!

I thought it was crazy at first when I heard of the recipe but seen the great reviews and LOVED it. Obviously you have to watch the little ones that would try to eat it but the texture is so much better than the store bought stuff and smells better too :]

I have never heard of using hair conditioner to make play dough, but it does look like it has a softer, not-so-crumbly texture – very cool!

Thank you for sharing this recipe with us. My baby still puts everything in her mouth so we may need to wait a few more months before trying it.

I used to love making and playing with playdoh with my son when he was younger. We used to make pretend play dough cakes and play at cake shops. We used to make our own playdough at the nursery I used to work in.
