Natural Homemade Carpet & Mattress Cleaner Recipe

Natural Homemade Carpet and Mattress Cleaner Recipe www.iheartartsncrafts.com

Baking soda is always my go-to product, it’s in pretty much every homemade cleaning recipe I have so I like to always have a box on hand. I used to buy the Glade carpet powder frequently, especially after having kids however I hated the fact of using any kind of chemical products especially on our carpet when we have little ones roaming around. What’s nice about this homemade cleaner is that it involves only two ingredients, you can customize the fragrance, it’s multipurpose, and it’s chemical free, just make sure you purchase the 100%  pure essential oil which is about $5 at Wal-Mart. First you’ll combine your  baking soda and a few drops of your essential oil into a jar and shake. I usually have mason jars on hand and one of these will work perfect and fit any old Parmesan cheese container top for the perfect container for your carpet powder. When using this for a carpet cleaner you’ll simply sprinkle the mixture on your carpet and wait 10-15 minutes then vacuum

Besides using it as a carpet powder you can also use this as a mattress cleaner. The baking soda naturally draws up moisture, dirtiness, and deodorizes leaving a nice hint of lavender or whatever kind of scent you choose. I usually use the lavender for cleaning my mattress because lavender is an excellent dust mite repellent! When using this to freshen up your mattress simply sprinkle or use a kitchen strainer and shake the mixture on your bare mattress. I leave the cleaner on for 30-40 minutes and using a hose and upholstery attachment on your vacuum you can vacuum it up!

What amounts of each do I mix together? Do I use a scrub brush, or a cloth to clean? Is it necessary to vacuum after?
